The talented Field Gun team at Meon Junior School achieved the Charles Crichton Junior Field Gun Endeavour Award in Plymouth recently.

The award recognises teams that go above and beyond to compete in the event. They were recognised for starting the day early and getting on the road at 5am to compete with other schools in Devon.

The award gets its name in tribute to Charles Crichton, who was known for his love of the sport. He loved and believed that anybody could take part in Field Gun tournaments, with the belief that anybody could achieve and do well, no matter what opposition was in front of them.

Mrs. Paine, Executive Headteacher at Meon Way, said: "I am thrilled to announce that our Field Gun Team achieved the Charles Crichton Junior Field Gun Endeavour Award. This was in recognition of their going above and beyond just to compete. I am so proud of all the children and staff for their spirit and commitment to the event. A big shout-out to Miss Faye for making this possible."
